Journal Entry #15: 22 things I’ve learned

To be honest I wasn’t very excited about turning 22. Even though Taylor Swift made a very catchy tune about this particular number, I can’t help but think that I should be at a different place in my life. Don’t get me wrong, I’m very thankful for all of the things I have and all if the people in my life. If you’re ready for a lengthy list of things I’ve learned at the ripe old age of 22, then get a snack and a drink; you’ll be here for a while.

  1. Always say “I love you.”
  2. Never go to bed angry or upset with someone.
  3. Not having a boyfriend (or girlfriend) isn’t the end of the world.
  4. Having a boyfriend (or girlfriend) doesn’t mean you should make him (or her) your world. Your personal goals should be number one on your priority list.
  5. You will have your heart broken; and that’s okay.
  6. Listen to your teachers and anyone who gives you sound advice.
  7. Always say “please,” “thank you,” and “you’re welcome.” Good manners never go out of style.
  8. If you have an opportunity to travel- take it!
  9. Drink more water.
  10. Wear sunscreeen everyday.
  11. You don’t have to wash your hair every day. Hello dry shampoo.
  12. Try out a sorority recruitment. You’ll never know unless you try it.
  13. Wear red lipstick.
  14. Read more books.
  15. Take time for yourself. Such as baths, reading, face masks, or catching up on the Real Housewives.
  16. Don’t let anyone tell you you aren’t fabulous.
  17. Buy fresh flowers.
  18. Always have a pen and paper handy.
  19. Wear a watch. Like an actual watch. On your wrist.
